BENSALEM, Pa. (WPVI) -- Two families have been left homeless after an early morning fire in Bucks County.
The blaze broke out after 5:00 a.m. Wednesday at a 2-story duplex in 4500 block of Winding Brook Drive in Bensalem.
Firefighters from five different fire companies responded.
They found heavy smoke and flames pouring from the first and second floors.
The fire eventually reached the roof, forcing crews to evacuate the building to fight the fire from the exterior.
Both families living in the home made it out safely, but a family cat was reported missing.
It appears the fire may have started near a plastic storage unit on the front porch.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
