Smoke from Frankford tire fire seen for miles

FRANKFORD (WPVI) -- Philadelphia firefighters battled a blaze involving tires in the city's Frankford section on Saturday.

The fire started just before 3 p.m. on the 2100 block of Wheatshef Lane.

A large billow of black smoke could be seen for miles as the blaze consumed a large pile of tires.

The fire was quickly placed under control.

No one was injured.
