Woman sets 'Grinch Trap' to nab alleged package thief

SINKING SPRING, Pa. (WPVI) -- An alleged package thief is facing charges in Berks County thanks to a clever homeowner.

Several boxes had disappeared from the home of Tara Deihm and her neighbors recently.

So the Sinking Spring woman decided to take matters into her own hands and set a so-called "Grinch Trap".

Deihm set up a surveillance camera then filled several packages with trash.

Sure enough, the alleged thief took the bait.

Police say that is Luis Otero-Gonzales walking onto Deihm's porch, looking around, then snatching the fake deliveries.

He was arrested the same day.

Investigators believe Otero-Gonzales may also be responsible for similar thefts.

He's expected to face additional charges soon.
