PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The winner of the 6abc Father's Day contest received some VIP treatment today.

Brian Beck is a retired police officer, a Gloucester Township native and a prostate cancer survivor.

Philadelphia Runner shut down its store today and showered him with free gear.

He earned it for receiving the most votes in the Nominate Your Papa Competition.

It was a new addition to the Gary Papa Run in June.

Families were asked to submit the significant men in their lives for consideration.

Beck became a finalist after his daughter described his bravery throughout his treatment.

He was able to complete the Papa Run just four months after having surgery.

"I'm in awe, I feel honored and very humbled by this whole experience. You know this wasn't what I was expecting when I had my surgery - I just wanted to run the race. That was all I wanted to do and it turned into something bigger for me and it was quite a spectacular day," said Beck.

Beck is now urging all men to get the PSA test for prostate cancer.
