STRAWBERRY MANSION (WPVI) -- Four people were taken to the hospital after a house fire in the Strawberry Mansion section of Philadelphia.
The one alarm blaze started around 12:30 a.m. Thursday on the 2900 block of Nicholas Street.
An 83-year-old man, his 33-year-old daughter, and his 15-year-old and 9-year-old grandchildren were in the home.
The daughter woke everyone up to get them out of the home safely.
Her brother who lives nearby, and rushed over to the house.
"It was devastating, and could not see getting out of the house, couldn't find the door to get out. He made it down the steps, and fell. My sister grabbed him, some miraculous way, thank God. They were able to make it to safety," said Tommy Battle.
The fire was placed under control within fifteen minutes.
Investigators think the blaze was accidental and began in the basement.
The flames destroyed the home.
No word on the conditions of the victims.
