Beyond the presidential race, also voters hit the polls in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware on Tuesday and cast ballots to decide who controls not only the White House, but also Congress, state and local governments.

Trump claims victory

While addressing supporters at the Palm Beach County Convention Center, where a watch party is being held, former President Donald Trump claimed victory at his speech, "I want to thank the American people for the extraordinary honor of being elected your 47th president," he said. (ABC News hasn't yet projected that he has won, but he is very close to clinching 270 electoral votes.)

Former Pres. Trump addressed supporters at Election Night headquarters, "This was a movement like nobody's ever seen before, and frankly, I believe this was the greatest political movement of all-time."

Casey, McCormick square off in race that could help GOP pad majority

Pennsylvania's U.S. Senate race between three-term Democratic Sen. Bob Casey and Republican challenger David McCormick could help Republicans pad their newfound majority in the chamber in a battleground state contest that is one of the nation's most expensive this year.

McCormick led vote counting early Wednesday morning by about 100,000 votes, or 2%, but a significant number of votes remained uncounted.

At Casey's election night party at a hotel in his hometown of Scranton, Mayor Paige Cognetti, a Casey ally, expressed confidence that Casey would ultimately win once all votes were counted. But, she told partygoers just before midnight to go home in hopes that a result would become clear on Wednesday.

Donald Trump wins Pennsylvania

ABC News projects that Trump will win Pennsylvania's 19 electoral votes, which puts him on course to win at least 270 electoral votes and the presidency.

He now has 266 electoral votes, and while ABC News has not yet projected the three electoral votes in Alaska or one vote in Maine's 2nd Congressional District, his edge so far tonight suggests that he is more than likely to.

Additionally, he leads by varying margins in Arizona, Michigan, Nevada and Wisconsin.

Andy Kim defeats Curtis Bashaw to fill Senate seat vacated by Bob Menendez, ABC News projects

Democratic U.S. Rep. Andy Kim defeated Republican businessman Curtis Bashaw Tuesday to fill the New Jersey Senate seat vacated by Bob Menendez, ABC News projects.

Menendez resigned this year after his federal conviction on bribery charges.

Kim becomes the first Korean-American in the Senate.

His victory keeps a reliably Democratic seat under his party's control. A three-term congressman, Kim gained national attention in 2021 when he was spotted cleaning up the U.S. Capitol after the Jan. 6 insurrection, bagging trash.
