Machete-wielding man robs convenience store in East Oak Lane

Philadelphia police are looking for a suspect who robbed an East Oak Lane convenience store with a large, black machete.

EAST OAK LANE (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are on the hunt for a suspect who robbed an East Oak Lane convenience store with a machete.

The incident happened at 6 a.m. on October 19 inside the 7-Eleven located on the 6700 block of North 5th Street.

After entering the store, the suspect can be seen in surveillance video pulling a large machete out of his shirt.

He goes behind the counter and threatens the clerk.

After taking an unknown amount of cash from the registers, the suspect flees the scene on foot.

He was last spotted walking north on 5th Street then west on Cheltenham Avenue.

Police describe the suspect as a black male in his early 20s with a thin build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark colored bandana covering the lower portion of his face, black gloves, black pants, black/white sneakers and armed with a black machete.
