MEDFORD, N.J. (WPVI) -- Residents in Medford, New Jersey are left picking up the pieces after a damaging storm tore through the area.
The Kozmore home, in the Deer Brook Development, was hit hard by the straight line winds around 6:30 p.m.
14-year-old Jake saw it all as it unfolded.
"All I remember is a giant thunderstorm coming. We heard lightning and by the time I looked outside, we saw these huge trees coming down," said Jake.
It took his dad Ed Kozmore two hours to get home from his office in Wilmington because of the storm and traffic.
On Wednesday, he and Jake did their own cleanup work, still not able to fully assess the damage to their house.
"We have a tree that had fallen on the back of our garage and it leads into the playroom. We can't really asses how bad it is yet because the tree is on it but it's pretty extensive," said Kozmor.
Lynn Pechinski knows how badly her house is damaged.
Three 80 foot trees came down on her roof and there is now a hole in the ceiling of the master bedroom suite.
For the time being the home that she and her husband share is uninhabitable.
"We went upstairs into the bedroom and there's a giant tree on top of our bed," said Pechinski.
The good news is that the power came back on in the area around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday but there's still plenty of cleanup left for residents.
