PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Lawyers for Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill have officially filed legal documents asking the judge who sentenced him to prison to step aside. This as support for the artist expands to new heights.

The hip hop star was sentenced to 2 to 4 years in prison for violating his probation.

Judge Genece Brinkley issued that sentence despite the fact that the district attorney's office suggested no jail time.

Hundreds rallied at Philadelphia City Hall Monday in support of freeing Meek Mill who is now in a state prison near Harrisburg.
