ARLINGTON, Va. (WPVI) -- A touching photo taken in 2014 is trending on social media today, perhaps getting the recognition it deserves in light of Memorial Day.
The photo shows Laureen Lopez-Berry at Arlington National Cemetery lying by the grave of her husband, Army Staff Sgt. Richard Berry.
Berry was killed by a roadside bomb while on patrol in Afghanistan.
The image was captured by Christopher Stevens, himself an Army veteran.
"I must admit, I am not a photographer," Stevens told 6abc.com. "That day I was at Arlington National Cemetery to honor the fallen."
"Seeing Laureen there was a reality check to me. It was as if the aftermath of the war was lying in front of me," he continued.
"I believe it's important our administration sees photos like this. It viscerally connects them to their foreign policy decisions."
Stevens said he didn't talk to Lopez-Berry that day, but later contacted her via Facebook to learn her story.
