Musikfest 2016 begins in Bethlehem
BETHLEHEM (WPVI) -- One of the biggest music festivals of the summer starts Friday evening in the Lehigh Valley.
The stage is set and the sound is checked, for Musikfest 2016 in Bethlehem. It's now going strong for 33 years.
"Musikfest 2016 is our largest ever. We have over 385 performers doing 500 performances on 15 stages. 14 of them are free," said Kassie Hilgert, President & CEO of ArtsQuest.
The X Ambassadors will be the big act Friday on the main Sands Steel Stage, after giving everyone a taste of their performance on Good Morning America.
Nearly 60 food vendors are offering sausage sandwiches, empanadas, fried cookie dough and pretzel sandwiches.
"It's a little crazy, a little chaotic. We have 4 stands at Musikfest. It takes a whole lot of people putting this massive event together," said Jen Correia from MMG Concessions & Catering.
It's also a community effort that Jacob Gines and his family look forward to every year.
"My mom's favorite section is the Spanish section, so we all come over and just sit down and listen to music and stuff," he said.
