HOPEWELL TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- Video from Hopewell Township police shows first responders making a daring rescue to save a dog.

The owner called for help Friday when the dog, Nisel, fell through the ice in a pond off Pennington-Harbourton Road in Mercer County.

Officer Robert Voorhees volunteered to be fastened to a rope and crawled out to Nisel.

He grabbed her collar, then other first responders pulled the officer and the dog to safety.

Police say Nisel and her owner were happily reunited.
