Police are investigating after a jogger was struck and killed by a car in Wilmington, Delaware.

WILMINGTON (WPVI) -- Police are investigating after a jogger was struck and killed by a car in Wilmington, Delaware.

The victim has been identified as 59-year-old Danny J. Peak of Wilmington.

It happened around 7:28 a.m. Wednesday in the 2200 block of Lancaster Avenue.

For unknown reasons, police say Peak entered the roadway and was struck by a 2004 Mercedes 500, operated by a 46-year-old man of Hockessin.

Police say the driver was traveling eastbound on Lancaster Avenue when he struck the victim.

He remained at the scene.

The victim was treated on the scene, and then taken to Christiana Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No word on if the driver will face charges.
