NEWARK, Del. (WPVI) -- Federal officials announced a large drug seizure in Delaware Wednesday afternoon.
Officials say they confiscated a large cache of drugs, weapons and about $40,000 in cash on Thursday in Newark.
They say it's the largest seizure of pre-packaged heroin in the state's history - more than 48,000 bags.
The street value of the drugs is almost $500,000.
Officials say they arrested five people on Albe Drive in Newark. Three of the suspects are brothers.
Gary Tuggle "we feel is going to hugely impact the overdose situation in this area. We think that this organization was responsible for putting more than 50,000 bags of heroin on the street per week."
The takedown was the result of a two-and-a-half month investigation by the Wilmington DEA, the Newark SWAT team, and the FBI.
