Albright College officials say a sophomore was killed and two other students injured in a house fire.

READING, Pa. (WPVI) -- Albright College officials say a sophomore was killed and two other students injured in an early-morning house fire.

College officials identify the victim as 19-year-old Matt Rein of South River, N.J. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The college released a statement Saturday saying: Our thoughts and prayers are with the student's family and friends during this time of sadness.

They say Rein was an environmental science major and swim team member who was visiting the house.

The names and conditions of the two injured male students have not been released.

Reading Fire Marshal Larry Moyer says the 5 a.m. fire was contained to the basement and caused mostly smoke damage.

He says four students jumped from a second-floor porch to escape, while Rein and another victim were found on the first floor.

Moyer says the home had working smoke detectors and it appears that the cause of the fire was accidental.

Rein was a member of the Albright College swim team. The school says grief counselors will be available to students throughout the weekend.
