Browns Mills man charged with killing mother

BROWNS MILLS, N.J. (WPVI) -- A man from Burlington County, New Jersey has been charged with killing his own mother.

Herbert Rowlette, 44, of the 100 block of Washington Boulevard in the Browns Mills section of Pemberton Township, is charged with the Sunday killing.

Investigators say it was Rowlette himself who called police at 5:40 p.m., "indicating a homicide occurred."

Officers arrived to find 71-year-old Maryanne Rowlette dead on the living room floor.

There was no immediate word as to how the elder Rowlette was killed or why.

Herbert Rowlette is being held on $500,000 bail.
