TRENTON, N.J. (WPVI) -- The father of a nine-month-old baby girl has been charged in connection with the baby's death on Monday night in Trenton, New Jersey.

The child, Madison Thomas, was pronounced dead after medics responded to a 911 call that the baby was in distress.

Jovan Thomas, 21, has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Police say he was high on marijuana and had neglected to feed or care for his daughter.

The Action Cam was in the 1000 block of Stuyvesant Ave in Trenton early Tuesday as police went in and out of Thomas' apartment.

"I've seen the little girl before, pretty little girl," said Ebony Moore, a neighbor. "It's just sad, I feel sorry. They are in my prayers."

The Mercer County prosecutor's office says there were no external signs of trauma to the child. Two other toddlers in the apartment are in the custody of their mother.

The cause of Madison's death is still under investigation.

Bail for Thomas has been set at $75,000.
