Man leads police on foot chase after traffic stop on Schuylkill Expressway

WEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A man is in police custody after a traffic stop on the Schuylkill Expressway led to a foot chase in West Philadelphia.

It began just before 8 p.m. Wednesday in the westbound lanes of the highway near Spring Garden Street.

Police reportedly stopped the suspect for expired registration on his vehicle.

The man then fled on foot, and led police on a chase through the grounds around 30th Street Station, where he was apprehended around 8 p.m.

Police say they don't know why the man ran.

He is facing criminal trespassing charges at minimum.
