CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- A deputy sheriff who died trying to break up an armed robbery was honored in Center City.
A hero plaque was dedicated in memory of Roy Fortson, Junior at the Criminal Justice Center.
Back in 1982, Fortson was at a West Philadelphia bar when two gunmen tried to hold it up.
He stepped in, but was shot multiple times in a struggle with the gunmen.
His widow, their children, and several grandchildren were on hand for Wednesday's ceremony.
