Man accused of driving wife's Corvette into Delaware River arrested
TACONY (WPVI) -- Authorities say they've arrested the man accused of intentionally driving his wife's Corvette into the Delaware River.
Police say 49-year-old John Kramer is the man who drove the car into the river on Monday night.
He was taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon at Northeast Detectives.
Kramer is facing a number of charges including violating protection orders, harassment and recklessly endangering another person.
The alleged motive behind it all - a bitter divorce.
His soon to be ex-wife says the divorce has grown bitterer over the past three years, and her husband's behavior more bizarre.
She tells us Kramer texted their 17-year-old daughter on Monday night as he was leaving court.
His wife says, "He said, 'When I'm finished here that's what I am going to do.' And then he texted my daughter and said, 'You have two minutes.' And then he texted back and said 'It's done. lol.'"
She doesn't want to be identified but says Kramer has resorted to damaging property before. After she got a Protection from Abuse Order he allegedly smashed the glass of her front door.
"He put a 30 pound weight through my back windshield and then a 30 pound weight through my front windshield," she said.
Police say at least one eyewitness watched as Kramer allegedly plunged the Corvette into the Delaware River last night.
Philadelphia Police Lt. Dennis Rosenbaum tells us, "The guy walked away and they asked him what he was doing, and he said, 'Don't call the police it's a family matter.'"
His estranged wife says Kramer is bipolar. She simply wants to move on with her life and she's hoping he'll turn himself in to police and get the therapy he so desperately needs.
