DELANCO, N.J. (WPVI) -- A group of moms from Joint Base McGuire-Dix, whose military husbands are deployed overseas, got special makeovers in time for Mother's Day.

For these women it was a chance to escape their responsibilities and get a Mother's Day makeover thanks to 'I Say Yes' Salon and Spa in Delanco, New Jersey.

"Definitely very different from anything I'm used to at home. Usually my hair's getting pulled by my kids, so this is a nice change," said Kristina Reed, Navy wife.

Priscilla Jimenez is the mother of seven with another on the way.

"With seven kids, I can never take time on my own. It's very hard but this is great. I will never forget this moment," Said Jimenez, Marine wife.

These moms all belong to Hearts Apart, a support group for families with spouses who are deployed or have been recently.

Emmy award-winning makeup artist Jimmy DeMarco also joined in the Mother's Day makeovers.

"It's Military Month and our troops give so much to us and we just wanted to give back to them," said DeMarco.

As a former military family, mother and daughter salon owners Crystal Lewis and Barbara Bryant know firsthand what these moms face.

"They deserve it! I always say they are the real heroes because they are left behind," said Bryant.

The moms are appreciative and grateful.

"I work full time so I don't get to do anything like this. I never had my makeup done before so that's fun for me," said Michell Burdine, Army wife.

"She's massaging my scalp and she's like, 'Relax!' I can't. You're just so used to being on," said Laura Schuerger, Army wife.

Schuerger's husband just returned from deployment three weeks ago. They have two small children.

"My husband's home, my kids are good, I'm going to be hot, this is the best Mother's Day I could ever imagine," said Schuerger.
