Store owner fights robber with shoe

An upstate New York convenience store owner used his shoe to fight off a gun-wielding would-be robber.

This is the dramatic surveillance video from Monday night.

The video shows a masked gunman demanding cash from Amrik Singh's cash register.

There is a scuffle and that's when Singh flings a slipper at the suspect, hitting him near the face.

Singh then rushes the gunman, forcing him out of the store.

Singh has owned the store for 17 years, and has been robbed once before.

This time he says he fought back.

"I figured I'm not scared. I don't know what happened, but nothing scared for me," said Singh.

He suffered a scraped nose and experienced chest pain, but was not seriously hurt.

State police are hoping the surveillance video will generate leads.
