Threat prompts lockdown at New Jersey community college

CARNEY'S POINT TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- A student reportedly threatening to shoot his professor prompted a two-hour lockdown Wednesday night at Salem Community College in Carney's Point Township, New Jersey.

School officials tweeted a warning stating, "EMERGENCY! Lock doors, turn off all lights and take cover. Wait for UNIFORMED POLICE. ACT NOW! This is not a drill!"

The all clear was given at 7:45 p.m. after police located the suspect by tracking his cell phone.

The 40-year-old student is undergoing a psychological evaluation and is in police custody.

Family members say he does not have access to firearms.
