PARLIER, Calif. -- The family of a 16-year-old girl who deputies believe was the unintended target in a Parlier shooting wants witnesses to come forward.

Fresno County sheriff's deputies say Brianna Ramirez was caught in the crossfire on Thursday. Family members say Ramirez and her mom were heading home from a haircut when several bullets hit their car and one pierced the teen's eye.

Ramirez has been a medically induced coma. Her family wants the community to come forward with any tips about the crime so deputies can arrest the shooter.

"They need to get upset. This could have been their daughter, their niece, their granddaughter next. We want people to step up, get mad," said Alice Acosta, the victim's aunt.

Ramirez's Sanger High softball team is also rallying behind her. The team and her family have started an account to help them with skyrocketing medical bills.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Fresno County Sheriff's Office.
