PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Philadelphia Department of Licenses and Inspections is being accused of jeopardizing public safety.
City Controller Alan Butkovitz revealed the results of a special investigation by his office Wednesday.
He said hundreds of dangerous homes across the city are, "one brick away from crumbling to the ground."
Along with illegal demolitions, his office found 1,900 inspections were conducted by inspectors without proper certification.
He also called on Mayor Michael Nutter to implement ten measures to reform the department, including the immediate removal of Commissioner Carlton Williams.
L&I officials have declined comment.
