PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are searching for the man caught on surveillance video ramming his pickup truck into the front of a market and then stealing the cash register.

"When I see the video of what happened, it's like something I've never seen before," said the shop owner, Jobin Mathew.

It happened in the early morning hours of December 5 at the Kuttanadu Market on the 8900 block of Krewstown Road.

In the video, the man can be seen driving his truck into the glass front door of the establishment and then driving away, only to return later and then steal the register drawer.

"It's crazy, if somebody wanted to break in, you could just use a stone. I don't know why he had to use a pickup truck," said Mathew.

Police said the suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

Investigators say the truck used in the burglary is a Dodge Dakota. It may have front-end damage because of the crash into the store. It also has a large dent in the rear driver's side.

No one was inside or injured. But the damage has been done.

"It's kind of a scary situation for me now because he could come back for me, and the people working here," said the shop owner.

Authorities said if you encounter the suspect do not approach him, but rather contact 911 immediately.
