The city of Philadelphia has a way to get kids excited about reading!

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The city of Philadelphia has a way to get kids excited about reading! It's called Playstreets and on Tuesday there was a giveaway.

The mayor's office partnered with Playstreet, the organization that provides meals in the summer to children from low income families; now, they're incorporating a book club, giving away bundles of age appropriate new books.

For some, this is the beginning of their very own library.

Each child receives five brand new books.

All of the books are provided by Team First Book Philadelphia and several of the organizations taking part in the program including the mayor's office picked them.

The books are being distributed at 16 Playstreets across the city. They aim to reach 500 kids.
