A car stop led to a police chase in Chester on Thursday.

CHESTER, Pa. (WPVI) -- Chester police are searching for a suspect that led officers on a pursuit after striking an undercover police car.

It all started shortly before 2:30 p.m. Thursday when officers attempted to stop the suspect's white Cadillac Escalade at 6th and Concord streets as part of an undercover drug investigation.

Officers were approaching the vehicles when the suspect accelerated, striking their unmarked patrol car.

Chester Police Commissioner Otis Blair explains, "The individual panicked and proceeded to strike a police car with his vehicle. A chase ensued through the city, at which point it ended up in the 2000 block of Murray Street where he bailed out."

K-9 units responded to the scene in an attempt to track the suspect, but because of weather and pedestrian traffic the police dog lost the suspect's scent.

Police are still looking for the suspect.

No police officers were injured in the incident.

Commissioner Blair says the suspect, a man in his 30s who he did not want to identify, had an active warrant out for his arrest for probation and parole. They know where he lives, and Blair says they're confident they'll catch up with him.
