1 killed, child hurt in crash on Rt.55 in Elk Twp., New Jersey

ELK TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- New Jersey State Police are investigating a deadly crash on Route 55.

It happened in Elk Township at 1 a.m.

Authorities say a driver traveling southbound near Wheat Road left the highway and overturned into the woods.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene and a child was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Route 55 remains open.
