The Detroit Pistons, the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, came into the playoffs at 22-1 to win the NBA Finals and as a -500 favorite to defeat the Orlando Magic in their first-round series. Now, with Orlando up 3-1 following a Game 4 victory, Detroit's championship odds have drifted to 45-1 and its odds to complete a comeback in the series are +210; the Magic have improved from 350-1 to 150-1 to win the title.
The Pistons have garnered a solid amount of futures action at major sportsbooks, with BetMGM reporting a second-best 10.8% of its championship ticket volume, including a $25,000 wager backing Detroit at 14-1 odds.
Monday night's games also saw the Denver Nuggets reassert themselves in their series with the Minnesota Timberwolves, shortening slightly from 22-1 to 20-1. Minnesota's NBA Finals odds outlook -- affected by key injuries to Donte DiVincenzo and Anthony Edwards, as well as a difficult playoff path that would likely see them immediately face the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder-- has lengthened to 250-1 after it was 60-1 prior to Game 4.
Speaking of the Thunder, they became the first team to punch their ticket to the second round after completing a sweep of the Phoenix Suns on Monday night. Despite that, Finals MVP favorite Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and company lengthened very slightly for the title to -110 from -125 before the weekend. The Boston Celtics and Spurs both have opportunities to close out their series on Tuesday and are tied for second on the odds board at +450; both had attracted significant futures action throughout the regular season.
