
PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The School District of Philadelphia said 52 schools will shift to virtual learning on Friday, June 5, due to extreme heat in the forecast.
In a statement, the district says that while significant progress has been made toward ensuring schools are adequately cooled, there are still several schools with inadequate cooling systems.
Early childhood programs located within the affected schools will also transition to virtual instruction.

All in-person after-school activities scheduled for Friday at those schools have been canceled.
District officials said students may still attend scheduled field trips. They are encouraged to wear light clothing and bring water bottles to stay hydrated.
The following 52 schools will be virtual:
