WILDWOODS, N.J. (WPVI) -- The future of a long-planned beach and dune project in the Wildwoods could be in jeopardy.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is threatening to pull $54 million in funding.
The plan calls for beaches in North Wildwood to be rebuilt and a dune line to be built along the barrier island's beaches.
Mayor Patrick Rosenello said the federal funding was approved as part of a spending package related to recovery from Superstorm Sandy in 2012.
The Army Corps and the Department of Environmental Protection have until the end of September to reach a resolution or the money can be reallocated.
