City hotel workers fight for new contracts ahead of FIFA World Cup in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- We are just weeks away from the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament.

The FIFA fan fest begins in Philadelphia on June 11, with the first match at Lincoln Financial Field set for June 14.

Some hotel workers in the city are fighting for new contracts ahead of the tournament.

Hospitality Union Unite Here Local 274 plans to announce a summer strike deadline on Wednesday.

It says workers at several city hotels have expired contracts.

Unionized employees at the Sheraton, Hampton Inn and Wyndham reached new contracts back in the Fall.
