Crowds at One Philly: United Concert battled heat ahead of storms for America 250 celebrations

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia's celebration ran way longer than planned, marking America's 250th at a time that most thought they would be asleep.

The "One Philly: Unity Concert for America" became the city's biggest Fourth of July event, lasting into Sunday morning.

Nearly every performer returned, except Christina Aguilera, who released footage last night on Instagram of what could have been.

In the Instagram post she said she had a special 4th of July show planned, but safety always comes first.

In the end, Mother Nature decided to crash the party.

From History Makers to musical performers, watch this illustration of America's 250th birthday unfold on Independence Mall.

Crowds braved intense heat, then storms rolled across the region, forcing city officials to pause the concert and ask thousands to evacuate.

By sunrise, city crews were already breaking down the stage and cleaning up the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
