Customs: Smuggler stuffs live birds down pants

MIAMI, Fla. (WPVI) -- Customs agents busted a bird-brained plan to smuggle live animals into the United States.

A man had concealed six exotic birds inside his fanny pack.

And, three more were down in his pants.

The man was a passenger on a flight from Cuba to Florida on January 9.

Border patrol took him into custody at Miami International Airport.

It is illegal to smuggle live animals into the U.S.
