PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police said they're searching for a woman who they believe fled after allegedly stabbing her mother to death Sunday night in West Philadelphia.
Officers responded to 4600 block of Westminster Ave. just before 11 p.m Sunday.
That's where officers said they found the victim bleeding on the sidewalk in front of a neighbor's home.
She was trying to get help before her daughter allegedly stabbed her multiple times, police say.
"We do not have yet an identity on the daughter. We're still trying to find this person," said Philadelphia Police Inspector D.F. Pace. "We understand that she fled the scene. We don't even know if it was in a car or on foot."
Police are still in the early stages of the investigation and said they have not yet identified the victim, but believe she was in her 50s and lived on the block.
They said the daughter visited often.
"There's still a lot of questions to be answered with respect to this incident as to what transpired, what motivated the stabbing," Pace said. "We have not been able to locate a weapon at this time."
Police also said they believe the daughter has children, so they're trying to determine where they are to make sure the kids are safe.
