Cyclists take part in the 54th annual Bridge to Beach Bike-a-Thon

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Some people made the trek to the Jersey shore on two wheels instead of four, as they raised awareness for a worthy cause.

Riders took part in the American Cancer Society's 54th annual Bridge to Beach Bike-a-Thon as they made their way over the Ben Franklin Bridge Sunday morning.

Some will ride all the way to the beach in Ventnor, New Jersey - with every pedal stroke in honor of someone who has battled cancer.

Action News New Jersey correspondent Trish Hartman served as the host for the kickoff ceremony.

Sunday's ride is expected to generate more than $1M for the American Cancer Society.
