PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- An Eagles fan battling cancer received the surprise of a lifetime in her hospital room: an autographed jersey from her favorite player, wide receiver DeVonta Smith.
The surprise was made even more special by the person who delivered it - Smith's fiancée, Mya Danielle.
Pat Schmus of Mullica Hill, New Jersey, is known in her family as a devoted Philly sports fan.
"All Philly everything," said her daughter, Theresa Schmus.
For Pat, Smith stands out among the Eagles roster. "He's not flashy, but he does such a good job! I'm like, 'I like that,'" said Pat, a retired school teacher.
The moment unfolded Monday at Penn Hospital, where Pat is receiving treatment for stage four ovarian cancer. In a video posted to TikTok, Theresa walks into her mother's hospital room with a gift bag containing the signed jersey.
It all started when Theresa messaged Danielle on TikTok, asking for an autograph. "I said, 'We're sitting at Penn and my mom is showing me pictures of your fiancé on her phone,'" Theresa recalled. "She was literally back to me in 30 minutes max."
Danielle purchased the jersey herself, had Smith sign it, and personally delivered it to the hospital.
Theresa said Danielle even navigated the hospital valet line to drop the jersey off to Theresa, who waited for the car to pull up and thanked Danielle from the bottom of her heart.
"I couldn't believe someone would take the time out of their day to do that for someone they don't know," Theresa said.
Danielle also included a handwritten card with a message of encouragement. The video has since gone viral, racking up more than 1.1 million views and thousands of supportive comments.
"People saying, 'We're praying for your family,'" said Theresa.
"I'm just pleased to read all positive comments," Pat added.
It's a moment that proves the player - and the team - she loves so much loves her right back.
"Thank you so very much for making my day and making it so special," Pat said.
