Falls Bridge, Kelly Drive reopen in East Falls after nearby train fire

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Falls Bridge and a portion of Kelly Drive and Ridge Avenue in Philadelphia's East Falls neighborhood reopened Friday afternoon after a nearby train fire.

Officials say the fire actually began on Thursday afternoon on a railcar across the Schuylkill River in Wynnefield.

Firefighters were still working to extinguish hot spots on the train on Friday morning, using water from hydrants in East Falls and taking hoses across the East Falls Bridge.

Chopper 6 was overhead as crews hosed down the smoking railcar.

The situation has since been cleared.
