CATASAUQUA, Pa. (WPVI) -- A Lehigh County father and son are under arrest after an explosive device was thrown near a polling place on primary day.

Earlier Thursday, authorities announced that an arrest warrant had been issued for 24-year-old Jack Pletz of Catasauqua.

Then, at around 5:30 p.m., authorities announced that he had surrendered to state police.

His father, 56-year-old Matthew Pletz, was already in custody. The two are facing a number of felony charges after Tuesday's incident.

State police say an explosive device was thrown from a moving vehicle about a half block from Salem United Church of Christ on Tuesday, where votes were being cast for Pennsylvania's primary election.

At this point, authorities say there is no information that leads them to believe the explosion was related to the polling place.

Investigators tracked the suspects to their green pickup truck, where they allegedly found 17 illegal homemade cardboard explosive devices.

The incident remains under investigation.
