UPPER POTTSGROVE TOWNSHIP, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- The 2nd annual Pennsylvania Fig Festival featured fanatics of the famous fruit from across the state and beyond.
Guests were greeted by growers of fig trees who shared their wares and taught useful techniques during workshops.
The event took place at the Althouse Arboretum, which is overseen by the nonprofit, Green Allies.
Through Green Allies, students in the UpperPottsgrove Township area are able to learn leadership skills in environmental sustainability. These students are responsible for creating various programs at the Arboretum such as a haunted woods experience and other youth empowerment events.
The Fig Festival is able to benefit and bring awareness to the Green Allies programs.
This year's Fig Festival took place on Saturday, September 13 and was a one-day-only event. It is expected to return next year around the same time.
