First Bank of the United States reopens to public after $43M rehabilitation in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The First Bank of the United States held its historic reopening ceremony Thursday.

The landmark building in Philadelphia's Old City is now open to the public for the first time in decades, as part of the nation's 250th celebration.

The bank has undergone a multi-year, $43-million rehabilitation.

President George Washington chartered the bank, which played a central role in establishing the nation's early financial system.
