Good Samaritan, Temple officer reunite after rescuing dogs from hot car

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A good Samaritan who helped save several dogs trapped in a hot car reunited with the Temple University police officer who came to the animals' rescue.

Corinthia Johnson, a block captain on 13th Street, said she spotted the animals last Friday in a vehicle parked at 13th and Jefferson streets in North Philadelphia.

When the officer gained access to the car, he found seven dogs and one cat inside. Some of the animals were showing signs of heat-related distress.

The owner eventually returned and surrendered the dogs to police.

"It was too hot for that many dogs to be in the car in their own feces," said Johnson.

All of the animals were taken to ACCT Philly and are now available for adoption.
