Habitat for Humanity hosts demolition day

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Demolition began on Thursday at a home that Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia will soon be rebuilding.

Volunteers grabbed their tools and got to work at the house on Oxford Street in Strawberry Mansion. Representatives from Firsttrust Bank helped get the home down to its studs.

The house will now be fixed up, and sold to a local family.

Since 2011, Habitat Philadelphia has served nearly 1,300 households. The goal is to build safe and affordable housing throughout the City of Philadelphia.
