High school students visit Upper Merion Fire Department for hands-on training

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. (WPVI) -- Future first responders took part in an interactive lesson at the Upper Merion fire department.

Officials from local fire departments volunteered their time to help with the hands-on training on Thursday.

The students suited up to learn about search and rescue efforts.

They also learned how to handle a hose and how to operate a ladder.

The group is part of North Montco's Protective Services Program which prepares students for careers in public safety.

A graduate of the North Montco Program helped organize the visit.
