Looking at the history of First Americans as country celebrates 250

As America celebrates its 250th birthday, members of the country's Indigenous communities explain what the holiday means for them.

ABC13's Charly Edsitty traveled to her community, the Navajo Nation, and the Pine Ridge reservation in South Dakota to talk with tribal members about the history of the First Americans and what it means to be Indigenous in 2026.

Charly also shares her own family history and reflects on the legacy of her late grandmother.
