Man fatally shot over apparent parking dispute: Police

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A man has been charged with murder for a fatal shooting that allegedly stemmed from a parking dispute in the Germantown section of Philadelphia.

Police identified the suspect as city resident Neiko Nichols, 26.

The victim has been identified as 52-year-old Jerry Fulton.

The shooting happened around 7:20 p.m. Wednesday in the 6100 block of Magnolia Street.

According to investigators, Nichols called police and reported that he acted in self-defense.

Officers arrived to find Fulton with a single gunshot wound to the chest.

He was taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.

No further details about the circumstances of the shooting have been released. Police say the investigation remains ongoing.

Investigators say they responded to a call over parking issues among neighbors at the same location back in January.
