Police search apartment complex after 1 killed in Delaware County shooting
LANSDOWNE, Pa. (WPVI) -- Police in Delaware County are investigating a shooting that led to the search of an apartment complex after one male was shot and killed in Lansdowne Tuesday night.
The shooting happened at around 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of North Maple and Blackburn Avenues, next to the Marshall House Apartments, officials said.
There were reports of two suspects running into a side door of one of the apartment buildings after the shooting.
Officers who responded could be heard over the radio saying, "Shots fired, Blackburn and Maple, one male. EMS."
Police locked down the apartment building, and allowed no one in or out.
"We got two males running into the apartment building," an officer said on radio. "EMS, bring that stretcher right up."
The Action Cam was there when officers were in the stairwell of the apartment building. They could be seen walking a K-9, joined by officers carrying shields with guns drawn.
At least one person was reportedly taken into custody at the apartment building after police searched the area.
There was also a car nearby that was wrecked with major damage.
Police are looking into whether the crash was involved with the shooting.
Neighbors who are got an early start Wednesday are shocked to hear any of this happened.
"Things like that don't happen around here, so to wake up in the morning on the way to work and find the somebody has shot and killed that's very disturbing. That's senseless and what for," said neighbor Eric Starkey.
Police still have a lot of details to sort out.
Right now, the ages of the people involved are still unknown and police have not yet released the victim's name.
