Man sentenced for spilling 4,000 gallons of gas in Delaware County

BROOKHAVEN, Pa. (WPVI) -- A gas delivery driver was sentenced in connection with a catastrophic fuel spill in Delaware County.

The judge ordered 41-year-old George Smith to spend 11.5 months to 23 months in prison.

Smith dumped 4,000 gallons of gasoline at the Gas-N-Go on Coebourn Boulevard and Edgmont Avenue in Brookhaven in June of 2021.

Officials claim Smith was looking to shorten his delivery route.
