Meek Mill added to lineup for One Philly Unity Concert on July 4th

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The 4th of July concert on the Ben Franklin Parkway just got more star-studded.

Philly's own Meek Mill is joining the lineup for the One Philly Unity Concert for America, the massive, free event that will fill the parkway with Philly flair.

Most of the artists on tap are globally renowned but also homegrown.

Concert organizers say when the invites went out to perform in Philly, the birthplace of American freedom, and the birthplace of many of these musicians, it was an instant yes.

"We're excited to have Meek Mill," says Executive Producer Scott Mirkin. "He's playing with The Roots. It's going to be awesome. It's just going to be a great night, for sure."

Meek Mill is joined by fellow Philly natives Will Smith, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Jill Scott and more.

"We have Pennsylvania native Christina Aguilera," says Mirkin. "It's hosted by Wanda Sykes, and we'll have some other special guests on stage as well."

The show will also include Seal and Jordan Davis, among others.

The festivities will wrap up with the fireworks show over the Philadelphia Museum of Art just before midnight.

"It's going to be a day-long event that that will will radiate love and unity from the stage at the bottom of the steps all the way down the Parkway, to the rest of the world," says Mirkin. "I'm not sure there is a cooler show right now in the United States on the Fourth of July."

As always, it's free to attend. It's a gift, concert organizers say, for our 250th birthday.
